課程目標 |
• Understand the concept of “creative industries” and “cultural industries”, how they are shaped, as well as how they are shaping the world
• Understand unique aspects of the creative industries compared to traditional sectors, including the opportunities and challenges
• Understand how government policymakers and international organizations work with the creative industries locally, nationally and globally
• Understand the intersection of creativity and commerce and gain insight on how to manage creativity and innovation and profit from these ideas

Lectures and Seminars (80-minute lecture + 20-minute discussions each session)
ASSESSMENT
The First Assessment: 10-minute oral presentation + A 350-word abstract [35%]
1. Choose one individual artist or creative organisation as a case study and analyze one of the following aspects critically:
a. The relationship between business and art
b. Creative labour and work cultures
c. Institutions and ownership
d. Financial structures
2. Analyze the concept of “policymaking” in relation to “creative industries” or “creative economies” of a country of your choice and assess the impact of these policies on different stakeholders.
The Second Assessment: Essay (3000-word max.) [45%]
1. Analyse the creative practices of a creative artist or institution of your choice. Explain how these are relevant to any of the following concepts: “cultural industry”, “creative economy”, “creative industry”, or “creative cluster”.
2. Choose one city in Taiwan to assess its potentials to develop as a “creative city” by examining relevant cultural policies, developments, or events.
3. Provide a case study of the historical development of a creative cluster of your choice, and analyze its economic, social and cultural impact.
